Day 229, 2 Timothy 3
We are living in the last days (and so was Timothy). The days after the ascension of Jesus (however long or short) lead to the return of Jesus and the final victory over death and sin. In those last days, there is all manner of godless turmoil seeking to distract the child of God. Paul lists many characteristics which are just as common today as they were then.
But Timothy will not go that way, because he has been fathered by Paul and knows what it looks like to faithfully follow Christ and turn away from the ungodliness around. The same is true for you and me: we seek fathering in the scriptures from those who have gone before. We hold firmly to the gift of grace we have been given. We expect God to breathe through His Word and impart life to us. That Word is the scripture as well as Jesus - the living Word.
That Word has the power to transform you into a fully mature, servant-hearted child of God, ready for whatever your Heavenly Father asks of you.
Have a great day!
