Day 230, 2 Timothy 4

2 Timothy 4

Paul concludes his final letter with a solemn charge to Timothy to continue what God has started (through Paul, and others).

Timothy is called to make an impact in Ephesus and beyond, bringing the Kingdom of God to those he leads.

Paul, in contrast, is ready to be poured out in a final act of sacrificial obedience. But there is no fatalistic acceptance of the evils of Rome, rather Paul declares “I have fought an excellent fight. I have finished my full course with all my might and I’ve kept my heart full of faith. There’s a crown of righteousness waiting in heaven for me, and I know that my Lord will reward me on his day of righteous judgment. And this crown is not only waiting for me, but for all who love and long for his unveiling.”

May we be able to say the same, as we approach the end of our race with courage, thankfulness, and expectation to meet Jesus face-to-face.

Have a great day!

Mark.
